Product Description
C48600 Dezincification Resistant Forging Brass
The Dezincification Resistant C48600 Forging Brass is composed of 60% copper, 39.2% zinc and 0.8% tin. The brass possess good strength and rigidity with duplex alpha + beta structure. The addition of zinc in place of tin makes the alloy high corrosion resistant against seawater. The addition of tin makes it resistant to dezincification and also inhibit the impingement by seawater at higher than normal temperatures. The alloy is appreciated for wear resistance, resistance towards stress corrosion cracking, galling and fatigue.

FAQs of C48600 Dezincification Resistant Forging Brass:
Q: How does C48600 brass resist dezincification compared to standard brass alloys?
A: C48600 is specifically engineered to prevent zinc leaching, which renders it highly resistant to dezincification. Its unique composition maintains structural integrity and mechanical stability in corrosive, water-based environments, outperforming conventional brasses that may suffer from selective leaching and resultant weakening.
Q: What are the typical uses of C48600 Dezincification Resistant Forging Brass?
A: This material is commonly used for water fittings, industrial valves, plumbing components, forgings, and other critical elements where dezincification resistance, strength, and good machinability are essential. Its polished finish and durable properties make it suitable for both industrial and commercial settings.
Q: When should C48600 brass be chosen over other brass alloys?
A: C48600 is preferable when working in environments where water exposure is significant and enhanced corrosion resistance is requiredsuch as in plumbing, water supply systems, and critical industrial applications. The low lead content also recommends it for systems requiring compliance with stringent safety standards.
Q: Where can C48600 brass products be sourced in India?
A: C48600 brass, available as rods, bars, billets, and forgings, can be sourced from reputable manufacturers, exporters, distributors, service providers, suppliers, and traders throughout India. Customized and standard options cater to project-specific requirements.
Q: What steps are involved in the forging process for C48600 brass?
A: The forging process for C48600 involves precisely heating the alloy, shaping it through high-pressure mechanical force, and following with controlled cooling. This process ensures a smooth, polished surface finish while preserving mechanical properties and tight tolerances.
Q: How does the machinability rating of C48600 affect processing?
A: With a machinability rating of 80, C48600 offers ease of fabrication similar to other brasses, enabling efficient cutting, drilling, and forming. This simplifies production while maintaining high-quality surface finishes and dimensional accuracy.
Q: What benefits does C48600 brass offer for plumbing and industrial systems?
A: The primary benefits include excellent resistance to dezincification and corrosion, high mechanical strength, low lead content for safety, and superior machinability. These advantages contribute to long service life, reduced maintenance, and improved reliability in critical plumbing and industrial infrastructure.
